Under Account -> Details, there is a blue box under the heading "Primary Account Info". This box notes that all brokerage and domain changes should come through our MLS department. You can contact them by emailing mlsinfo@idxbroker.com.
FAQ
- Will I need to complete new paperwork for a brokerage change? Not always. Some MLS boards require an updated agreement for a brokerage change while some just require a notification to the board directly. By emailing the new brokerage change information to us, our MLS Coordinators can easily reply with the proper instructions.
- Will I need to complete new paperwork for a domain change? Not always, often the MLS Coordinators only need to confirm with the MLS via email unless specifically noted as auto-approval.
- Why do I need to email these changes? To ensure a smooth transition of the account, we want to be able to verify correct spelling, which is easiest when written. And if an agreement is necessary, the instructions can be sent with our reply.
- How long will processing and approval take? It takes about as long as it took to get approved initially if there is paperwork involved. Please send an email to the MLS Coordinators as early as possible to ensure a smoother process.
- Are all the MLS boards the same? No. They all do things their own way, which is why we encourage questions and prior-planning.
- What if there are multiple data feeds in the account? We need to receive approval from ALL boards before we can make the change.
Once the client completes paperwork, or the MLS Coordinators email confirmation of submission to the board, we await approval for any brokerage or domain changes.
When we receive approval, we make the change on our end, and notify you.
Important steps to prepare for transition
Brokerage Changes:
During a brokerage change, we set the Office ID of your brokerage onto your account, which then allows you to select the specific agents you need to 'feature' for the account. Log into your account and navigate to Account -> Featured ID's and verify that yourself and/or any other agents that should be featured, are selected in this list. Then navigate to Listings -> Active and verify your current active listings from the new brokerage and agents we just selected are pulling through to IDX.
Note: If you do not see any agents in this list, the wrong agents are displaying, or you are missing agents from this list, please contact our support team directly to help assist with correcting your account.
Multi-User Accounts
You will want to verify all of your user agent accounts that have been created are associated with the correct agent ID so their contact information is displayed properly on their own listings to site visitors as well as on their own IDX Agent Bio Page. Navigate to Account -> Users -> Agents -> Edit Agent -> MLS tab. 'Choose MLS Agent ID' from the available dropdown for each MLS this agent is a member of and click 'Save'. Perform this step for all user agent accounts.
Domain Changes:
When we change the domain on file with the IDX Broker account, all of the IDX links for your pages and widgets will change too, so you will need to be proactive in preparing for this change on your website if you have any IDX currently integrated.
Wrappers
Wrapper pages are responsible for replicating your website design to the IDX Pages. Navigate to Design -> Website -> Wrappers and update the Global Wrapper URL to a valid wrapper page that exists within the new site. Be sure to check the Category and Page level tabs in case there are more wrappers in use.
If you were building an entirely new website, it's important to update these wrappers so the IDX Pages do not look like your old website. You can follow this guide on creating a new wrapper. Additionally, if you are using WordPress, you can automatically create a wrapper with our WordPress plugin.
If you are keeping the same website and simply changing the domain, simply update the URL in this section from the old domain to the new domain since that page would exist in the new location if it has not been deleted or renamed.
Ex. https://olddomain.com/idx-wrapper/search -> https://newdomain.com/idx-wrapper/search
Custom Subdomain
If you are using a custom subdomain, add a CNAME record with the new domain to ensure you can continue to mask IDX Pages on your domain. If you do not have one configured, this would be a great time to set one up!
A custom subdomain ensures that Google and other search engines indexing your IDX Pages are crediting you as the content author and associating these pages with your domain and not ours. Follow the links below for more information on configuring these.
