The Prime Map Search widget allows you to add an interactive map search tool to any page of your website. Functioning just like your IDX Broker Map Search page, the Prime Map Search widget includes pins of listing locations and filters to change search criteria while offering portability as a widget. You can keep it small and add it to a sidebar, or make it large enough to fill your entire homepage.
To create a Prime Map Search widget, select Design, Widgets, and New. From here, click Create New in the upper-right corner. Then, follow the step-by-step guide below.

Step 1 - Create the Widget
Choose Map Search from the carousel menu of available widgets by clicking “Create Widget.”

Step 2 - Widget Options and Settings
Here is where you will customize your Prime Map Search Widget.
Choose a Name for your widget. This name is for your reference only and will not show up on your website. Set the Location by entering a City, County, or a Postal Code. You can also select a Location List.
Determine which listing Status you want to populate as results. The ‘Active’ status will always be an option. Note: not all MLS listings offer the Sold status.
You will also see several more default map options that you can customize like price (minimum and maximum), bedrooms, and square footage. You can choose a sort order based on these customization options, or opt to sort by Newest Listings.
Choose the layout of your listings. There are two options: Overlayed and Below. The default setting is Overlayed. Widget Colors for Banners, Text, Price Reduced, and Favorite may also be updated.
Additional Settings - Map Settings
There is a toggle to Show or Hide Map Settings. To edit Map Settings, move the toggle to Show. Choose your Map Center by setting a City, County, or Postal Code. This will default the map to a specific geographic location.
Within Map Settings, you can choose certain Map Controls to Display. These controls allow you to search the map by using Zoom Control, Pitch Control, and Compass Control. You can opt to choose only one, or include all three controls.
Prime Map Search also offers multiple options for Map Style. The default style is Road but other options include Satellite, Grayscale, Night, and Highcontrast.
Map Drawing Options allow you to choose how viewers can interact with the widget to select a search area. Drawing Options include a variety of shapes: Draw Point, Draw Polygon, Draw Line, Draw Circle, and Draw Rectangle. Ensure to include the Edit Geometry and Erase Geometry - these two options ensure users can edit or erase the drawing they’ve made, thus editing their search parameters.
Edit the default Map Zoom Level. The lowest zoom option is 1 and the highest zoom option is 24. A setting of 11 is a good default zoom level.
Advanced Settings
There is a toggle to Show or Hide Advanced Settings. Within Advanced Settings, you will find an option to Edit Link By Hand. This allows for a more granular editing of search criteria and an opportunity to change the results of your search.
See our guide on how to use Edit Link by Hand here.
Each widget also has its own Custom CSS that stays inline with the widget code. See our guide on Custom Widget CSS for more information.
-
NOTE: IDX Broker Support Team cannot support Custom CSS. You must be familiar with CSS to use the Custom CSS features in IDX Broker.
Determine which fields you want to display in the listing preview by checking the available boxes under Fields To Display. Options include Bed, Bath, Square Footage, Price, Status, Address, and more.
Choose how long listings stay in your New Listing Banner by setting a New Listing Banner Threshold. Options range from 1 day to 30 days.

Step 3 - Widget Code
Once you’ve decided on settings for your Prime Map Search widget, press Save. Then, navigate to My Widgets. Find your new widget by name. Next to your widget, press the down arrow under the Tools column. Select Copy Code. Copy and paste the javascript into the HTML of the webpage where you want the widget to appear.
- NOTE: If you do not know how to access the HTML in your website or are unsure where to place the Map Search widget code within the HTML, please contact your website designer or the support team of the company who is providing you with the tools to edit your website for further assistance.
Note about multiple instances: As with all widgets, if you intend to use this widget in more than one location on your website (for instance both in the sidebar and in the main body) you should create a second widget of the same type for the secondary location. Using the same widget instance more than once on the same page can cause display errors. You can easily Clone the widget by going to My Widgets → Tools → Clone.
See Creating and Managing Widgets for more information.
